KIA coach Kim Jong-guk met with reporters prior to an away game against KT Wiz held at KT Wiz Park in Suwon on the 24th and said, “Today Choi Won-joon will play as an outfielder.”

Manager Kim said, “Choi Won-joon made a mistake at first base, and it led to a run, so I felt sorry. He shrinks psychologically and he is sent to the outfield,” he explained.

Choi Won-joon started as first baseman in the game against KT on the 22nd, but made a catch error when Park Byeong-ho grounded at second base. Because of this mistake, second baseman Min-hyeok Kim stepped on the home base and conceded a run. If Choi Won-joon caught this ball, he could finish the inning, but he couldn’t.

This mistake made Choi Won-joon shrink psychologically. Choi Won-joon’s main position is an outfielder, but there are many outstanding resources in the outfield, such as Na Seong-beom, Socrates, Choi Hyeong-woo, Lee Woo-seong, Lee Chang-jin, and Ko Jong-wook, so coach Kim is using Choi Won-joon as a first baseman.

Choi Won-jun was doing well in his own way in an unfamiliar position. However, the mistakes he made in the last 22 games were painful. It was a mistake because he was not a professional first baseman. Accordingly, on the 24th, coach Kim appointed Byeon Woo-hyeok as first baseman and sent Choi Won-joon as center fielder.

Meanwhile, the KIA starting lineup on the 24th was Choi Won-jun (center fielder) – Park Chan-ho (shortstop) – Na Seong-beom (right fielder) – Choi Hyung-woo (designated hitter) – Kim Sun-bin (second baseman) – Socrates (left fielder) – Kim Tae-gun (catcher) – Byun Woo-hyuk ( 1st baseman) – Kim Do-yeong (3rd baseman) formed the batting order. The starting pitcher is Pano.
